How does acne start?
Acne originates approximately two or three weeks before it is visible to the naked eye. Your skin naturally produces oil deep within each of your hair follicles. This oil is needed in order to maintain moisture and pliability within your skin. Under normal circumstances, while the oil is produced dead skin cells are shed from the surface making room for fresh new cells. When shed evenly, clean, clear, fresh and unblemished skin remains. However, excessive oil production will cause dead skin cells to become stuck together plugging follicles and trapping oil and bacteria inside. This leads to the formation of a “pimple” with further congestion to the clogged pores, leading to the collaboration of white blood cells and eventual swelling you typically see.
